Home Security company Albuquerque, NM
ABQ Security Systems understands the difference between building a home security company brand and selling an alarm system. Signing up a customer for a home alarm when what they really need is a simple medical pendant, is a short-term play. We have no interest in the short-term. There are too many good home alarm companies as well as home automation companies out there to take this approach. One of our core values is that it’s always the best move to do the right thing, even if that means referring you to one of our competitors that may be a better fit.
In a fairly recent situation we were approached by a business owner looking for commercial security. He was looking for video cameras, specifically surveillance cameras and in general just an overall beefed up security system. Quickly into our conversation we learned that he was just a few months into an existing alarm contract with some fairly new GE equipment that had been installed with the alarm system wiring from the initial build. This gentleman had heard great things and even checked out our reviews online. With the nature of our offering, which is little money down and a contract it just didn’t make sense to get him tied up into two contracts. Though it would have been money in our pockets, we made the decision that it would be better for our brand to do the right thing and refer him to Lowe’s or have him search online for cameras. He already had the monitored alarm and the value we would have added for double the price didn’t feel right. We lost the business in the short term, and we couldn’t have been happier.
Albuquerque Home Security is here to solve our customers problems, not add to them.
We are frequently asked what type of home security and home automation packages we offer. We wish there was a one-size-fits-all package that we could offer to everyone. The reality is, every situation is so unique and different that it makes little sense for us to take this approach. Of course this would make our lives easier. Yes this would make offering affordable security systems for the home, simple. We care too much to settle for this.
Using our helpful sales professionals, upon your request whether via phone call, chat, or quote, we will ask you a series of questions that will allow us to determine the very best solution for you and your family or business. A 35 year old mother of 3 may have great use for our doorbell camera or outdoor camera, whereas a 40 year old traveling single male may benefit more from our full home automation package with things like smart locks, Nest thermostats, and even indoor cameras.
Why offer you carbon monoxide detection with your security system when you are actually looking for monitored fire and smoke alarms. It’s all about fitting you with the right system.
We won’t know unless we ask. For this very reason, with a few simple question we can accurately assess your needs and match you with a smart home or regular burglar alarm system that is just right for you.

How much does a security system cost?
In conjunction with the section above, the cost of the best home security systems is determined based off the way you customize it for yourself. Be aware that if your deciding factor is price, we are not the right fit.
There are a multitude of factors that must go into this decision in addition to the cost in our opinion. We find it ironic that people want the most advanced home security system, (or smart home system) yet are unwilling to pay any company that isn’t considered a cheap home security company.
We take pride in being a top tier alarm company that charges top tier prices. Think about the last time you went cheap on something. The chances are, you didn’t give it much thought and it’s likely that product quickly broke or was ruined. After the product was no longer usable, there’s a great likelihood you immediately went and bought the more expensive product you avoided in the first place, making your net spend more than it should have been in the first place. If you are going to make the decision to get a wireless security system or upgrade your old DSC or Honeywell equipment, do yourself a favor and do it right. Don’t cause yourself more pain than there needs to be in an effort to save a couple bucks. Trust us, you won’t save the couple bucks in the long run.
Call Albuquerque security today, let one of our professionals ask you a few questions, customize a system for your needs and then get you a quote. If our competitors offer a system that seems like a better fit, we are happy to help and glad to see you take the step to at least getting something put in the home. Even if that means not putting in our system.
Will I be charged for a false alarm?
We are commonly bombarded by questions regarding false alarms. Our best piece of advice about false alarms and security companies is to call your local police department and ask their policy. This policy can vary from city to city. We have seen some cities that deploy the ‘three strike rule.’ This allows customers three false alarms before being charged. On the flip side we have dealt with cities that have zero tolerance for false alarms and therefore issue a charge starting on false alarm number one.
It’s worth noting that you will always run the risk of incurring a charge for a false alarm the moment you sign up for a system. The questions comes down to why you want the system in the first place. If your primary reasoning is for peace of mind and protection against the unthinkable, it will likely be worth the risk. If you are a techie and like the idea of home automation, home security cameras, smart thermostats, and a keypad door lock it very could be worth looking into a standalone system without monitoring and therefore no risk of false alarms.
Do I need monitoring for my alarm?
Yet another debatable topic. Obviously we are pro-monitored burglar alarm. That is what we offer! As deeply as we believe that everyone can benefit from a monitored alarm, there are those that wish to have a home security system with cameras. Nothing more, nothing less. Monitoring does not matter to them. Maybe it’s a business owner looking for business security. Whatever the case, there are those out there that would prefer the old Brinks home security system already in their house from the previous homeowner. These people often are interested in being alerted of an intruder, but not necessarily worried about the life threatening potential outcomes.
Here’s our view: If your reasoning for getting a smart security system is to protect lives, you would be crazy to not get monitoring. For a couple of reasons but most importantly because the monitoring is what connects you to the police. If you want an alarm to protect stuff, you aren’t necessarily in the market for a dependable security system. You are looking for extra eyeballs on your property and feel you (and your gun) can handle anything that comes through the door.
Home security contract
If you are just beginning your research, let us be clear in saying, “we have a contract.” Of course we have a contract. How can a company offer you thousands of dollars of equipment at not charge upfront without asking for some type of agreement? It doesn’t make economical sense and if any company or person has that kind of offer it’s almost certainly a home security scam. Good companies are in business for a reason. They provide massive value that justifies their pricing and contract. With a couple of simple searches you will be able to find out what the average security contract is. Yes we have different options but there is no such thing as no-contract in any industry, especially a no-contract alarm. You either pay up-front and assume the risk, or let us assume it and sign an agreement.
Home automation services
Albuquerque security systems is also a smart home company. We believe in where things are headed not just where they are at the present. Automation and specifically home automation is the future. As mentioned in other parts of our page, we offer almost every conceivable feature. We truly feel like we offer the best home security camera system on the market. In addition to that, if you want to control your door lock from your phone, we’ve got that. Likewise, if you feel the burning desire to peek in on your pets and talk to them through your indoor camera, we’ve also got a solution for that. We offer smart locks and smart thermostats, including the Google Nest. We do not offer the Nest Dropcam Pro.
Let us be very clear regarding this common topic. If you consider yourself a hands-on type of person who enjoys the whole process from research to purchase to installation, please don’t waste any more time on our site. ABQ Security is the wrong fit.
There are some good DIY home security companies out there that will definitely fit the bill. The two that we recommend are Simplisafe and Frontpoint security. It's argued that Frontpoint is the best DIY home security system on the market. We'll let you be the judge of that. Both of these companies, given the price, offer good products that allow you to keep up your do-it-yourself reputation.
If you are not someone that is a DIY security kind of person do not let online reviews sway your decision between buying a Simplisafe kit online and getting monitored alarm. Most of the negative home security system reviews involved an interaction between a customer and a door-to-door salesman. Some of the corporate giants in this industry include:
You will notice that the majority of issues and complaints with any of these companies involve an error or company misrepresentation between the sales rep and the customer. So when you see that DIY companies have beautiful reviews and ratings, it could be due to the fact that they have no door-to-door sales reps. The other area that attracts a lot of negative reviews is technicians and the installation process. Again, it’s impossible for you to go online and write a bad review about a DIY installation when you are the one that performed it. Just some food for thought.
Is a security system worth it?
That’s a question we can’t answer. It’s all on you. The very fact that you have found your way onto our page means it’s crossed your mind more than once. Being in this industry we firmly and strongly recommend doing your due diligence and figuring out what products and services will best benefit you, your family, and your current and possibly future situation.
Do your homework. Call us and get a quote, ask around, look on Facebook, check home security system consumer reports. Get a general sense of what everyone likes and what pros and cons each company offers. Ask companies not just what makes them the best option, but ask them what they believe are their weaknesses as well. It’s a quick way to vet out possible options. Any person or company that tells you they have no chinks in their armor, is someone you better be cautious around.
All we ask is that you give us a chance at earning your business. We assure you our brand is more important than another couple bucks a month. If after talking and asking you a few questions we feel like it isn’t a good fit, don’t be shocked when we recommend you go elsewhere. We know you’ll be grateful later and will surely recommend us to family and friends, because we will be a company you can trust.
Remember as the old saying goes, “it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.”
